Abortion is a rebellious act against Conservatism

It took me a long time to realize the conservative argument against abortion wasn’t about morality, or the sanctity of life, or when life actually starts. Conservatives are against abortion because it throws a wrench in their militarist capitalist plans.

As Americans, we’re told two really big lies. The first is that no matter where we’re born, who we’re born to, or how poor we are at birth, if we work hard and sacrifice we can be successful (read: be part of the 1%). This conditions us to accept poor pay and treatment because we’re under the idea that we have to endure it to succeed. Thus, the workforce churns through workers who ultimately die never reaching their goal, benefiting those who used their labor to get rich while not allowing them to threaten their power.

Abortion thins out the pool of potential workers. Conservatives essentially see women as brood mares that provide them future employees to replace those who retire or die. Every aborted fetus costs rich people money in the form of potential profit from that fetus’s future labor. And if the fetus was to be a minority, even more so.

The second big lie we’re told is that it’s honorable to serve and die for our country. It sounds good at first, but when you see how we treat veterans, the lie starts to show through. The government relies on babies being born to mothers who have to struggle to survive so that military service looks like a welcome escape. Imagine how attractive it is to a 17 year old born to a poor family when they’re approached by that recruiter who promises world travel, a college education, and guaranteed job skills.

What they don’t tell you is that you’ll be at the beckon call of Uncle Sam to go wherever they want you to, you may have to kill some people, and suffer severe mental illness. Then when you come home, you’ll be treated like chewed gum on a sidewalk. As George Carlin once said, “Conservatives want live babies to grow up to be dead soldiers.”

So the next time a conservative throws the “sanctity of life” argument at you, realize they are manipulating you into thinking that being alive in America to be used as a cog in the capitalist machine or cannon fodder in the army are good things. They’re not.

Abortion is a direct, rebellious act against capitalism and militarism. Do it shamelessly and with “an upright zeal.”
